OSTOA is one of the first creations of the new studio. It is born from a simple gesture, from one of the shapes that most interest me lately. A form that although in flat format can have several symbolic interpretations, once a slight continuous fold is applied it becomes clearly a basic and simple interpretation of a leaf. A leaf is rarely completely flat and even less so once it falls from the tree. I love the slight chaos of harmonious relief created by the withered leaves surrounding the tree that once housed them.
It was a project in which close collaboration with Akaba's expert upholsterers was necessary. From the moment I saw one of the first prototypes I was enchanted by the care and attention to detail in a piece that wins with marked fabrics and grain.
